Destination Information for Senegal

Close by are the beaches of Yoff and N’Gor for those who crave golden sands and peaceful sunbathing spots. Many visitors come to Senegal to see the country’s varied and wonderful wildlife. Head to the Fathala Reserve at Karang, found north of the border with Gambia.

Here you can take a mini-safari if you’re in a rush, or stay longer to see giraffes, rhinos, elands, antelopes and birds at a more relaxed pace. To explore the wildlife from the country’s waterways, Parc National de Niokolo-Koba, in the South East of Senegal, is the largest National Park in the country, from where you can take a river tour and see hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat.

The main tourist season in Senegal is during November-February, when the weather is generally dry and cool. If you take a trip in May, and you can soak up the atmosphere of the internationally renowned Saint-Louis Jazz Festival, attracting big names from around the world.
